This weekend’s ride has started to be a little tradition around here. It seems that we have taken a Boy’s only ride the past 3 years on Mothers Day weekend, so we decided not to break the trend this year. This years location is the beautiful little town of Mountain View Arkansas. Why here? Well all of our favorite roads in Arkansas surround this little burg. Push mountain is only 20 some miles down the road. Nuff Said..
Jackie, Herman, Richard and Myself had made reservations. We were set and ready to go. Herman and I were heading out on Thursday morning at 6AM. We were going to meet Jackie In Paris TX for breakfast at Nancy’s cafe. It was a beautiful morning. The sunset was awesome. It was a great omen on how nice the entire trip would be. Jackie was right on Time. We ate breakfast and then headed out for the 440 miles to mountain view. It was a great day.
Got a little hot in the afternoon but it was a great day to ride. We got to Mountain View around 4:30PM. We checked in and decided to just hang out at the hotel. We did walk over to Subway for dinner but other than that it was a mellow evening. Richard was supposed to come up on Thursday evening to join us, but worked too long and he was too tired to make the trip. We missed him. But we still had a great time.
Friday we did a nice little 250 mile loop including doing push mountain 4 times. The weather was awesome. We ate at Fifty Six, AR at a little place called Cody’s. the food was good and cheap. The wait staff was friendly and it was only a few miles from Push Mountain.. not a bad way to start the day. We did a nice loop around 123 and up to Mt Judea. We pushed it pretty hard and I almost ran out of fuel before making it to Marshall. We fueled up and had a great sandwich at the Daisy Queen. We then rode more fun roads and finished the day with iced tea in Cody’s after doing push again.. A great day of riding. We finished the evening at Anglers a nice little catfish place that sits along the river. We might even have to look at staying there next time.
We finished up the day taking in more twisty roads and enjoying a slice of pie at Codys before heading back to Mountain View. It was a beautiful ride. I have to say that this was a great place to stay. It is in the middle of all of the good riding. I am sure we will be back in that area in the near future.
We woke up Sunday to dark skies and threats of rain. Well we headed down 9 jumped on 16 and then had breakfast in Conway. We then slabbed home back to Dallas. It rained on us pretty hard outside Little Rock but was not a big issue. I rolled into town around 3PM with 1410 miles logged.. what a nice trip. Great roads, Wonderful Friends and super weather.. when are we going back?
