Rob, Jackie and I all met at the Cafe Brasil in McKinney around 8AM on Friday morning. The threat of rain had surrounded our departure, but the morning looked fantastic. Just cool enough, but warm enough for a beautiful ride. We left the cafe around 9:15 and headed up towards Paris.

We headed down 121 then jumped on 82 to make the fastest time and get to the better roads. We pulled into a gas station in Paris. There had to be 8-10 V-Rods getting fuel or on trailers sitting there in the parking lot. They were all headed to a rally in Broken Bow OK. We talked bikes and admired the V-Rods on hand. I have to admit that if I was going to buy a Harley the V-Rod would be my choice. I love the look of the bike.

We left Paris and then headed for 37 to Idabel and then jumped on 259 to get us up into Arkansas.

We jumped on the Parkway and next thing we knew we were at the lodge. Lunch was good then we headed down to our hotel in Mena.

We stayed at the Sun Country Inn. Nothing fancy but it was clean and close to a few places to eat as well. We got to the hotel around 3:30 and it was HOT! We decided to cool down take a break and then head out around 4:30 to do the (Parkway) ridge before it got too dark. When we came up the Ridge to the Lodge, we had to keep the pace on the slow side as they were mowing the grass on the Oklahoma side of things and the roads were full of grass and dirt and that sort of thing. We were a little less excited about starting our loop later in the day as we figured the roads would be a mess. However that was not the case, the grass was gone and the speeds were brisk. That is a great road to go fast on and to enjoy the beautiful outlooks.

The Trophy was a dream, it ran great and as can be seen by me taking the pictures above, it was pretty easy to ride fast. Hey I had to ride fast so I could set up and grab the pictures, it was their fault.. really it was. hehehe. It was a wonderful start to the trip. I had 403 Miles logged at the end of Day 1.
